Starring the late Paul Newman and Steve McQueen this EPIC motion picture had an all Star cast.
It focused on the Opening and then Burning of the World's tallest Skyscraper.. all 137 stories of it.
Believe it or not it was so BIG at the time it brought together 2 of the biggest Hollywood Studios to make it in 20th Century Fox and Warner Brothers.
It was based on 2 novels and was released the same year the "Sears Tower" in Chicago opened and 2 years after the "Twin Towers" of New York's World Trade Center opened.
To me the Movie is a truimph of an era before major computer generated special effects and full credit to L B Abbott and his crew for making it all look so real .. even by today's standards more than 30 years later.
So good maybe.. that it hasn't been remade yet.
The Movie was dedicated to the many Firefighters across the World who've died or who have been injured in the line of duty.
The Movie premiered on the 10th of December 1974.
